Physics World Special Report: USA 2017

This Physics World special report examines the state of the US physics community. Interviewees include John Holdren – the physicist who served as Obama’s science adviser for eight years – and Bill Foster, who is now the only physicist in the House of Representatives, as well as the current and future presidents of the American Physical Society, Laura Greene and Roger Falcone. Despite America’s problems, many early-career scientists we spoke to are optimistic about the future, while philanthropic support for US research is also thriving.
